Luife, an architect and DJ, has been on a musical journey since 1994 when he started his own radio music program on a university radio station in his hometown of Viña del Mar. It was here where his musical knowledge expanded significantly, playing a wide range of genres including Indie Rock, Post Rock, Acid Jazz, Hip Hop, and electronic music. He was first introduced to house and deep house by friends who were children of politically exiled Chileans and had returned from countries like Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland. He fell in love with these styles from the moment he heard them.
Luife started producing parties and became a resident DJ at the renowned Café Journal, a bar that was a pioneer in having live DJs in Viña del Mar and Chile. He continued to play at various parties and clubs in his hometown and other cities in Chile.
As part of his evolution as a DJ, Luife began his career as a remixer and producer. Although it’s been a slow process, he’s been able to edit some of his work on the Brazilian label, Grooveland, in Sao Paulo.
In 2009, Luife visited New York and New Jersey for the first time, fulfilling a lifelong dream. During this trip, he was able to experience house music in its purest form and was inspired by the vibrant energy of cities like Coney Island, Lincoln Park, and a boat party. These experiences further solidified Luife’s commitment to house music.
Luife is grateful for the opportunity given to him by GJD (MAMA) and DJP to become part of their music family and for the support of his dear friend John Mateo, who has been there since the beginning of his journey with Pressureradio.
